Jan 18 update: The Federal Bureau of Investigations on Sunday raided the Stone Oak-area home of a San Antonio man allegedly involved in the deadly U.S. Capitol riots.

Agents arrested 37-year-old Matthew Carl Mazzocco of San Antonio. He is charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations said Tuesday that it is aware of reports about a San Antonio man’s alleged involvement in the deadly breach of the U.S. Capitol last week.

The FBI’s San Antonio office confirmed in an email sent to MySA on Tuesday that the agency is “aware” of reports sent about Matthew Carl Mazzocco, but could not comment further since the investigation into the events at the Capitol are ongoing.

Mazzocco was identified by social media, largely on TikTok, as being at the Capitol the day of the riots. A selfie posted on Mazzocco’s now deleted or deactivated Facebook page was used by social media sleuths to pin him outside the Capitol.

“The capitol (sic) is ours,” Mazzocco captioned the photo.

Screenshots showing his job history, including employment at multiple local mortgage loan companies, were also included in the viral videos. Another showed a man fitting the image of Mazzocco’s selfie. In that video, the man wearing a red jacket is seen inside the building and is instructing surrounding rioters not to break or vandalize anything.

The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying individuals who made the unlawlful entry into the Capitol. Photos of the wanted persons can be found here. Mazzocco does not appear to be photographed in the collection of photos released by the FBI.

For investors longing for one ETF Focus on secured loan commitments (CLO) the wait could soon be over when Janus Henderson announced he had filed plans with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEK) for the Janus Henderson AAA CLO ETF.

The actively managed ETF is traded under the ticker “JAAA” and could come on the market at the end of October, according to the statement. A CLO is a single security backed by a basket of debt.

“Secured loan obligations (CLO) are often backed by low-credit corporate loans or loans taken out by private equity firms Leveraged buyouts. A secured loan obligation is similar to a secured mortgage obligation (GMO), except that the underlying debt is of a different nature and nature – a corporate loan instead of a mortgage “, according to Investopedia.

The fixed income ETF Universe, although it is growing rapidly, currently offers none CLO Product.

“The new actively managed Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) focused on AAARated collateralized loan obligations (“CLOs”) are expected to be the first of their kind in the industry and demonstrate Janus Henderson’s innovative strategy, ”said Janus Henderson. “The investment objective of the Fund is to achieve capital preservation and current income by seeking high quality floating rate exposure AAA-rated CLOs. “

Focusing on highly rated CLOs could YES an advantage for investors, as CLOs are often viewed as having an increased risk of default.

“With a CLO, the investor receives scheduled debt payments on the underlying loans and assumes most of the risk in the event of the borrower’s default, ”notes Investopedia. “In exchange for taking over the taking default Risk, the investor is offered greater diversity and the potential for above-average returns. A default occurs when a borrower fails to make payments on a loan or mortgage for an extended period of time.

The Janus Henderson statement does not mention an expense ratio for YES.

“The fund is managed by the portfolio manager John P. Kerschner, CFA and Nick Childs, CFA. Jessica Shill will act as Assistant Portfolio Manager for the fund, ”the announcement said.

Rice’s family were sent to the Parkside Extensions neighborhood in Toledo, where their parents faced another obstacle. They couldn’t get a loan to buy the home they wanted as the demographics of the area changed from white to black, a sign of risk for traditional lenders. This was redlining in action, and with no other option, her parents were forced to take out a higher interest rate loan from a subprime lender.

“Everyone had a middle income or a higher income, but it didn’t matter,” says Rice. “It was the complexion of the people who lived in the house.”

Rice’s connection to fair living continued into her teenage years. When she was 15, Rice did an internship at the Toledo Fair Housing Center.

“With this internship, I was gripped by the fair-living virus,” she says. Years later, she became the organization’s CEO.

And Rice has never looked back. She has over 35 years of experience in the fair housing industry. In her current role at the NFHA, Rice leads efforts to improve equal housing for millions of Americans.

With her extensive background and expertise, we asked Rice to share the biggest barriers to home ownership by blacks and how she felt they should be addressed. (Answers have been edited for length and clarity.)

ATLANTA, Georgia (WLBT) – Small businesses affected by the April 2020 natural disasters are reminded to apply for capital loans by February 22, 2021.

The celebration will be very different this year at Houston’s Three Brothers Bakery, but it will remain a celebration nonetheless. Despite the coronavirus pandemic that has severely affected its business, the bakery is now turning 71st Anniversary.

Three Brothers Bakery will commemorate the special day at their Braeswood location with biscuits for 71 cents each. Additionally, the bakery has launched Mitzvah Funds and is encouraging its devoted supporters to donate $ 7.10 to commemorate this special day. Mitzvah is Hebrew for good deed. After people got some media attention over their struggle to survive another disaster, people began sending money to the bakery to bake for others in need and to keep their team busy.

After Three Brothers Bakery received a series of “donations” and a grant from the Texas Restaurant Relief Fund sponsored by Spoetzel Brewing, the makers of Shiner Beer, Three Brothers Bakery decided to formalize a program. The donations help keep their team running, feed those in need, and the owners of the bakery give supporters a wholesale discount, allowing the funds to feed even more. The Mitzvah Funds currently support:

  • Emergency Aid Coalition: The EAC provides emergency aid to those most in need through packed lunches, food supplies, school supplies and clothing centers. The Emergency Aid Coalition uses the baked goods as part of their bag lunch program
  • Feed the Frontline HTX: FTFL is a non-profit organization that supports local restaurants in supplying health workers and first responders. The food they provide shows appreciation and gratitude to those who work on the front lines
  • Homeless and Hungry – Jay Hamburger: For over 30 years, Three Brothers Bakery has worked with Jay Hamburger to feed the homeless every week
  • Jewish Family Service: JFS is a non-profit organization that supports people with disabilities, mental illnesses, and the elderly. Three Brothers Bakery has worked with, and partnered with, their Celebration Company for over a decade to provide groceries to the elderly and needy in the Houston community
  • Restaurant and Hospitality: Second Servings is a nonprofit that works to end food waste in Houston. You are committed to providing 10,000 meals a week to the hospitality industry

For the third time in its history, Three Brothers Bakery is supported by the US Small Business Administration loan program – the first with a disaster loan after Hurricane Ike in 2008, the second with a disaster loan after Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and this year with a PPP Loan that enables the bakery to weather the economic downturn associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After surviving four floods, a fire, and a hurricane, we are experts in small business disaster recovery, but this was absolutely the toughest one economically; what a difference a year can make, ”says Bobby Jucker, co-owner of Three Brothers Bakery.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – Public colleges and universities in the United States have long served as engines of social mobility for low-income students, but the rising cost of higher education in recent decades has diminished that role. Penn State and Michigan State University researchers argue that a no-loan policy, in which student loans are replaced with institutional grants that do not require repayment, could be a way of making higher education institutions more accessible to low-income students.

“We believe there is benefit to education at all levels, including higher education, to serve as those social leaders who help reduce inequality,” said Junghee Choi, a graduate student at Penn State College of Education Department of Education Policy Studies (EPS.). ). “But in the course of time the inequality has not diminished, rather the existing inequality either reproduced or only increased.”

Choi, along with Qiong Zhu, postdoctoral fellow at Michigan State’s Education Policy Innovation Collaborative, who recently received his doctorate in higher education from Penn State, and Yi Meng, doctoral student at EPS, present their results in their paper, “The Impact of No-Loan Policies on Student Economic Diversity at Public Colleges and Universities,” recently published in Research in Higher Education.

“Research has shown that attending select colleges after graduation brings economic returns,” said Zhu. “It is important to increase the social mobility of low-income students.”

The study, which examines the impact of no-loan policies on the economic diversity of students in public four-year colleges, is an extension of a 2019 study conducted by Kelly Rosinger, Assistant Professor of Education at EPS, and colleagues, the the effects of no-loan policies in private elite universities. The study by Rosinger and colleagues found that “Universities that had a universal no-loan policy, where admission was not restricted by income or other criteria, saw a significant increase in enrollments for students from the middle-income quintile, but less for those from the lower range two quintiles. ”

“I think the importance of our study is that it provides information to (university) administrations,” said Meng. “By examining the barriers in detail, I believe the study also provides information and resources to help them better reflect on best practices in terms of designing (grant) packages and helping low-income students.”

In their paper, the researchers find that the cost of attendance is a major barrier for low-income students to access higher education. For more loan offers check this website https://www.paydaychampion.com/

“Affordability in public four-year institutions has decreased significantly over the past three decades due to the decline in support per student by states and the increase in tuition fees,” they wrote.

A distinguishing feature of their study, the researchers said, was that they were able to examine the impact of no credit policies on enrollment in public institutions by using more detailed information on family income than most similar previous studies. Previous studies have relied on documentation from Federal Pell Grants awarded to undergraduate students who are in financial need. However, as evidenced by previous studies, the researchers claim that Pell scholarship receipts as proxy for low-income status are limited, in part because both low and middle-income students could be included in the Pell Scholarship count .

Instead of using the Pell grant as a measure of low-income status, the team obtained data from the Mobility Report Card (MRC), which is based on more than 30 million tax records. The MRC data provides information about the proportion of students enrolled from each income quintile for almost all higher education institutions in the United States from approximately 2000 to 2011.

Through their research, Zhu, Choi, and Meng found that introducing no-loan policies in public institutions increased the enrollment rate of low-income students (bottom two quintiles with family incomes), which is what students with annual parental income of about $ 40,000 or more less corresponds.

“However, our study shows that breaking down financial barriers is not equally effective in improving access across the entire distribution of low-income students,” the researchers write in their paper. “We found that the impact of the no-loan policy was concentrated on students from the second income quintile and was generally weak for students from the lowest part of the income distribution.”

According to Zhu, the different effects of no-loan policies may be related to the heterogeneity of the groups involved, and the strategies should be tailored to their particular circumstances. Students in the bottom quintile face additional barriers such as transportation and daily expenses in addition to tuition fees. She added that due to a lack of information, they may also have difficulty applying for grants.

“I think there are many more structural barriers for low-income students to enroll in very selective colleges,” she said.

Zhu said these barriers can be removed by adding additional supportive measures for low-income students to the guidelines

“Money is important, but money alone may not be enough,” said Zhu. “Coaching and advice on funding applications and enrollment processes are very important for low-income students in order to find their way through the application process at the university. Personalized messages about financial support could increase enrollment. ”

In addition to financial and informational barriers, Choi said, studies show that social and cultural issues hinder low-income students in the college admission process.

“Low-income students may feel like they don’t belong to selected institutions because they don’t know anyone like themselves in those schools.”

One of the limitations of the study, Choi said, is that the researchers couldn’t explain the specific differences in institutions’ non-credit policies that led to different results. Although all institutions implemented a credit-free policy with common basic characteristics, results varied even in schools assigned the same selectivity level. One possible explanation, he added, is that the income categories are too broad and more precise classifications might be useful for future research.

“It’s really important to have a more nuanced understanding, especially for the most economically disadvantaged students,” said Choi.

Zhu, Choi, and Meng said future studies could also examine the different effects of different policies without credit. One area that could be explored, Zhu said, is how a no-loan policy affects academic achievement or even financial and professional achievement after graduation.

Choi added that it was important to consider the long-term sustainability of no-loan policies, which come at a high price for an institution and could be put on the table due to budget cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This line of research can reveal barriers that low-income students must overcome if they want to go to college,” Meng said.

Candy Ramos and Jay Gersan Jr., the couple behind tiny Marie’s Kitchen, announced in an Instagram post yesterday they got one. started GoFundMe campaign trying to keep their fragile businesses afloat.

Located near 635 in North Dallas, the secluded deli is in a corporate park that feels like a modern ghost town as employees work from home.

Before it all dried up, however, Marie’s Kitchen quickly expanded its visibility. Was featured in D magazine as part of a community of vibrant Filipino pop-ups, the restaurant was highlighted on NBC5 News as a vendor in the first ever Philippine Food Festival Dallas, which brought flocks to the Four Corner Brewery in early March.

At that time the guests called for Marie’s silo plates (the traditional Filipino breakfast dish consisting of a protein, fried garlic rice and eggs) and daily Filipino specials. By April 21st, the morning they released their GoFundMe, they had only sold two breakfast rolls.

Ramos went through the Small Business Association government-sponsored loan application process but was denied; a customer gave her a lead on a women-owned company loan that she followed up but received no response. For the SBA loan, they needed tax returns and salary slips. But she has no pay slip to offer: “It’s just me and my husband.” And from 2018 onwards, she will not have any additional tax payments. “I’m such a young company,” she says.

“They don’t need us,” she says of the larger size she envisions SBA loans to be. And so a business that was already hard to see now feels superfluous.

And yet they fill a niche. Marie’s Kitchen creates a daily menu of family take away meals on the roadside ($ 35, serves three to four people). For these, she prepares labor-intensive Filipino specialties, sometimes accompanied by steamed puto, tiny cakes made from fermented rice that she grinds and soaks overnight to get the perfect seaweed and draw. fluffy pandesal rolls that you mix, shape and bake yourself.

Ramos prepares about a dozen meals a day, but things are unpredictable. “Because sometimes there is a day that is very busy for us and that day covers us for the week.” By busy she means maybe 10 family dinners. “That will do me good if they all buy [a] Family dinner, ”she says. But sometimes customers ask for a la carte options from the larger meal. Sometimes someone will ask if they can order the meal, but maybe for Friday. And Ramos says yes. She saves a serving to prepare a meal for that person that day. “I’m trying to adapt,” she says. “That helps us a bit.” Ramos says the family’s meals sold well in the first few weeks; now the rate has slowed, sometimes to just one meal a day. She understands, she says. Everyone is in a difficult situation. “Many are losing their jobs”

Ramos estimates that the GoFundMe goal of $ 30,000 would allow them to work for four, maybe five months.

They are considering selling inventory items as groceries and offering delivery when it is only Ramos and Gersan. “We run a deli – just me and him – and we can’t afford to hire someone else.”

But she says: “We will try to do everything we can – until we can no longer do it.”

Traditionally, two local organizations donated to the Christmas Basket Fund a few weeks before the official start.

$ 350 total donations from Jackson Masonic Lodge 46 and the Seymour Chapter Order of the Eastern Star were recently made at The Tribune office in downtown Seymour.

“You like to be first,” said Barb Walters, advertising administrator at The Tribune.

Today begins the 75th anniversary of the local project, which has helped people in need to buy groceries during the Christmas season. It is sponsored by American Legion Post 89, The Tribune, and JCB.

The generosity of Jackson County’s residents has resulted in over $ 10,000 in each of the past few years. Last year it was $ 11,430.

Carl VonDielingen, chairman of the Christmas Basket Fund, said the committee’s goal is $ 15,000 so that 300 gift cards can be distributed.

“In one year we got $ 28,000, so that depends on the economy,” he said of the donation.

Donations allow $ 50 JayC Food Stores gift cards to be distributed to less fortunate people in the area whose applications have been approved.

Applications for assistance begin today and will be accepted until December 15th. To receive one of the gift cards, people must reside in Jackson County and submit a letter stating their need for assistance. Inquiries should be directed to the American Legion Basket Fund, PO Box 566, Seymour, IN 47274.

There is a limit of one gift certificate per person and one per address. Requests that provide a PO box address will not be accepted.

Donations can be made by companies, corporations, service groups, churches, individuals or families. Donors can donate anonymously if they wish and dedicate their donations in memory or in honor of others.

All donations can be mailed to or dropped off at American Legion Post 89 or The Tribune in Seymour, or any JCB branch. Donors and their dedications are published daily in The Tribune.

The fund was started in 1945 by veterans returning to Seymour and Jackson Counties from WWII to provide groceries to the area’s families for Christmas.

The fund originally served the needy in Seymour, but was later expanded to include all of Jackson County.

Although this year is unique due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VonDielingen said the committee is determined to keep the Christmas Basket Fund going.

“You don’t have a lot of personal contact, so that works well,” he said.

Although he doesn’t know exactly how many years he’s been involved in the project, VonDielingen said he enjoys it.

“I volunteered for a year and have been there ever since. Retirement did that for me, ”he said with a smile. “It’s a lot of work for two months and there are only two other people on my committee, but I enjoy simply helping people in need. It’s work, but we get a lot of good input and donations from the community. “

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Conor Coady celebrates after scoring to make it 1-1 (AMA)

The skipper went home to equalize his side at Etihad Stadium in the 61st minute as they threatened to halt the Premier League leaders’ long winning streak.

But two goals in the last 10 minutes from Gabriel Jesus and one from Riyad Mahrez finally brought Pep Guardiola’s team to their 21st straight win in all competitions.

Coady’s goal was only his second in 224 league games for Wolves but he said: “It means nothing when you lose.

“It was nice back then because it made it 1-1, but we had to go on a bit. Scoring a goal is great, but it means nothing if you lose. “

City had taken the lead with Leander Dendoncker’s own goal in the first half and Wolves, who had no contact in front of Coady’s goal in City’s penalty area, thanked goalkeeper Rui Patricio for a series of impressive saves.

Coady said, “It was about staying in the game. We know what a good team they are. That was our approach.

“You’re going back 1-0 and it’s about staying in the game. We can’t miss the game as we have before. We are gutted.

“Nobody is afraid to be on a football field. They are world class, but we wanted to test ourselves. It was about staying there and I thought we played really good things. It’s disappointing from our point of view.”

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo admitted his side paid for their mistakes after scoring both City’s second and third goals after the Wolves lost the ball in their own half.

Jesus finished the goal on the last kick of the game with a goal given by VAR after initially being warned offside.

Nuno said, “There are always positives and negatives. In the second half we were better at the way we pressed, the way we blocked.

“But the negative was that we made mistakes that we shouldn’t have.

“Especially against City, when they get the ball back, they push up and are very quick.

“But it’s my responsibility because we should grow in this aspect of the game. It’s about growing up and improving.”

“The game plan is always there, but you’re always faced with a different game plan. It’s difficult to plan against Manchester City when they have an advantage in the game and you don’t have a lot of possession.

“It’s hard to do without the ball. We had some good moments in the second half, but we couldn’t keep them. “
