DeKalb voter registration and electoral staff to provide election information at the October 4th event – Decaturish

DeKalb County, GA – The DeKalb County Voter Registration and Election Bureau is working to ensure voters are prepared for the upcoming local and special elections on November 2nd. DeKalb is hosting AER on Monday 4th October from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the AER office, 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur.

The event will provide local resources for DeKalb residents to ensure they have information on voter registration, polling stations and more, according to a press release.

“Our“ Registered and Ready ”event is a great way to prepare for the upcoming elections,” said Twyla Hart, DeKalb County’s AER interim director. “We encourage residents to come out and learn everything they need to know in order to create a voting plan, whether they want to vote early, in person on election day or by postal vote.”

The event takes place outdoors and attendees are strongly advised to wear masks. “Registered and Ready” will include various information stations and the county’s new voter kiosk, which will allow users to search for and print out voter material for free.

Participants can register to vote, request a postal vote, update their voter registration, and review their voting location. DeKalb AER will provide information on personal safety guidelines, places and opening times for early voting, and polling stations and times.

Voters in DeKalb County are eligible to vote for one Postal vote from August 16.

To request a postal vote:

– Visit Georgia Secretary of State’s website: www.sos.ga.gov.

– Complete the Request for postal voting using the country’s official paper form or request a postal vote in writing. Use only blue or black ink.

Applications can be sent by post to the district election office. Voters should use this address: DeKalb District Election Office, 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, GA 30032-1239.

Voters can send a postal vote request for multiple people living in the same household in the same envelope or in the same email.

If you are not being sent a postal vote, contact the election office in your district. You can still vote in person, either ahead of time or on election day.

A request for postal voting must be submitted receive 11 days before the election, so Oct. 22.

According to SB202, a new electoral law signed by Governor Brian Kemp in March, a voter ID is required to apply for a postal vote. A Georgian driver’s license, Georgian voter card, U.S. military ID, employee ID issued by a federal or state government branch, U.S. passport, tribal ID, or document that confirms the name and address of a voter – including a paycheck, an electricity bill or bank statement – are accepted forms of identification.

Early voting starts on October 12th and ends on October 29th. The times for early voting are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On October 16 and October 23, there will also be a preliminary vote on the weekend from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Starting October 12, you will be able to participate in the early voting at the following locations:

– Stonecrest Library (3123 Klondike Road, Stonecrest, GA 30038)

– County Line-Ellenwood Library (4331 River Road, Ellenwood, GA 30294)

– Dunwoody Library (5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road., Dunwoody, GA 30338)
